Cielo Morado House - Tucson, Arizona
I recently started using watercolors as a sketching tool in my design process. These drawings are a study for an outdoor fireplace and pool at a house in Tucson, Arizona.
The paint gives me the ability to study colors and moods in a way that regular pen and pencil do not. Because it takes time for the paint to dry, a single water color drawing can take 30 minutes or more. I like the enforced patience this process requires. It allows me to mentally inhabit the design in a deeper way than a quick sketch does.
These two drawings were completed about 28 months apart and reflect a change in style and technique.
